Girls play the kind of music I want at my funeral. I say that with the utmost conviction because when I die I imagine it sounding like this in the background, a joyous pop music filled with a somber melody that’s just as much sunshine as it is piss and vinegar. A truly harmonious collaboration between its two-man line-up, the rich instrumentation and density of their work is a testament to their ingenuity. Take one part Beach Boys, another part Elvis Costello, and throw it into a lo-fi 4 track and there you have Girls.
